A special program was organized on the occasion of National Ayurveda Day 2026 on Wednesday 23 September at Gyan Bhawan, Patna in the capital Patna. Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar participated in this program organized by State AYUSH Committee and Health Department. During the programme, the importance of Ayurveda, health problems related to changing lifestyle and promotion of traditional medical systems were discussed.
The Health Minister said that due to changes in today’s lifestyle and eating habits, many types of diseases are increasing rapidly. At such times the role of Ayurveda becomes more important.
From diabetes to stress, lifestyle related problems are increasing
While talking to the media, Nishant Kumar said that in the present times, problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, insomnia and stress are increasing. Apart from this, due to wrong eating habits and changing daily routine, digestive problems like fatty liver are also emerging.
He said that in such circumstances, along with adopting a healthy lifestyle, people should also understand the importance of traditional medical systems like Ayurveda.
‘Ayurveda is our rich and ancient medical tradition’
Describing Ayurveda as India’s ancient and rich medical tradition, the Health Minister said that taking it forward is not the responsibility of any one department alone, but is a matter of collective effort.
He reiterated the government’s commitment towards promoting Ayurveda and said that India has taken Ayurveda even beyond the country’s borders. Bihar also has a rich tradition of Ayurveda since ancient times.
Many activities organized in the program
On the occasion of Ayurveda Day, many types of activities were organized in Gyan Bhawan. Along with scientific sessions, a free medical camp was also organized for the people in the program.
Apart from this, yoga exercises were organized for the participants. An exhibition of medicinal plants was organized at the venue and medicinal plants were also distributed among the people.
Emphasis on increasing awareness about Ayurveda
The objective of the program was to make people aware of Ayurveda and healthy lifestyle. Experts also discussed the role of traditional medical methods amid changing eating habits and daily routine.
Through this event of Ayurveda Day, a message was given to connect people with the Indian medical tradition and increase awareness about it.
