National Film Award to four celebrities of Bihar

The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony is going to be special for Bihar.
Four film personalities associated with Bihar are actor Sanjay Mishra, director Kamlesh K. Mishra, producer Minty Mishra and film critic Sanjeev Srivastava will be honored with the National Film Award. President Draupadi Murmu will present the awards at a function to be held at Ekta Nagar (Kevadiya), Gujarat on September 22.
Darbhanga resident actor Sanjay Mishra will be awarded the Silver Lotus for Best Supporting Actor for his excellent performance in the film ‘Bhakshak’. The story of ‘Bhakshak’ is inspired by the famous Muzaffarpur girls’ home incident.
Gopalganj resident director Kamlesh K. Mishra and producer Minty Mishra will be awarded the Silver Lotus for the Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Anthology Film for the film ‘Kakori’.
Based on patriotism, this film is dedicated as a tribute to the immortal martyrs of Kakori on the centenary of the historical ‘Kakori Train Action’ of 1925. The film highlights the historical incident of Kakori and the bravery, determination and indelible contribution of the freedom fighters associated with it.
Kamlesh K. Mishra’s film has already received the National Film Award. His film ‘Madhubani: The Station of Colours’ received the National Film Award for Best Narration in the Non-Feature Film category.
Filmmaker Kamlesh Mishra’s first directorial feature film is ‘Azamgarh’, in which Pankaj Tripathi has played the lead negative role. This film is based on the theme of terrorism. He gives a prominent place to history and research from a special perspective in his films. Recently, he had made the documentary ‘Delhi Riots… A Tale of Burn and Blame’ (Delhi Riots – A Tale of Burn and Blame) on the 2020 Delhi riots, which became quite popular at that time. His first short film “Kitab” earned global fame.
Kakori’s producer Jaswinder Singh is from Delhi and Minty Mishra is from Gopalganj, Bihar. This film has been made in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department.
Sanjay Mishra, resident of Darbhanga, Bihar, is a famous actor of the country. Has been active in the field of acting for more than three decades. Impressive acting is his identity. In the 1995 film Oh Darling! This is India! Started his acting career from. He has received the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor twice for his excellent acting in ‘Aankhon Dekhi’ (2015) and ‘Vadh’ (2022).
Sitamarhi resident journalist, writer and film critic Sanjeev Srivastava will be awarded the Golden Lotus for the best film critic in Hindi. He has been writing on journalism and films in Delhi for almost two and a half decades. He has also done film reporting in Mumbai.
Shri Srivastava has many books published on cinema, the prominent ones being ‘Time Cinema and History’, ‘Cinema’s Parallel World’ and ‘Emergency Cinema’. He has also had a long conversation with Arvind Kumar, the founding editor of ‘Madhuri’ magazine, on the cinema of the Golden Age, which he considers important for cinematic studies.
Filmmaker Kamlesh K Mishra expressed happiness over ‘Kakori’ receiving the National Film Award and said that this honor is a matter of great pride and joy for him. He said that the National Film Award is not just an honor for a film or a filmmaker, but a national acknowledgment of a creative effort that honestly presents history, society and sensitivities.
Shri Mishra said that he sees this honor more as a tribute to the immortal sacrifices of Kakori than as a personal achievement. Kakori Rail Action was an important milestone in the Indian Independence Movement and his aim was to convey this historical event with due importance to today’s generation through the film. He said that the film has been produced with complete devotion. He expressed his gratitude to producer Jaswinder Singh, Minty Mishra, Uttar Pradesh Government and all the artists and technicians associated with the film and said that this award is the success of collective effort and dedication.
Kamlesh K Mishra said that he is most happy that the memory of the brave revolutionaries of Kakori and their sacrifice is being remembered with respect at the national level through the National Film Award. He dedicated this honor to all the immortal martyrs.
Minty Mishra said that being a part of a film on a historical event like Kakori was a very important and pleasant experience for me. Now this film getting the National Film Award makes this entire journey more special.
Minty Mishra said that Kakori Rail Action is an important chapter of the freedom movement and it was the responsibility of all of us to convey the courage, sacrifice and sacrifice of the immortal revolutionaries of Kakori to today’s generation. He said that through Kakori, a small effort was made to highlight an important but less talked about event of history.
