Mumbai, 21 September 2026: The mobile roaming experience for Jio customers visiting America will now change. Jio users will be able to roam on T-Mobile’s 5G standalone network upon reaching America from India. Similarly, T-Mobile customers coming to India from America will be able to use Jio’s 5G standalone network. According to both the companies, this is the first case in the world of connecting 5G standalone networks of two countries in this way through roaming.
In simple language, even after changing the country, the customer will continue to get the benefit of roaming on the new 5G network. This will provide faster speed, low-latency and more reliable connection. That means, whether streaming video, sharing travel reels or running office apps, the 5G experience in India and America will be more smooth and seamless.
Currently, this 5G standalone roaming connection is between the networks of Jio and T-Mobile. This means that its direct benefit will be available to the customers of these two companies traveling between India and America.
Ankur Kapoor, T-Mobile’s chief network officer, said a customer’s 5G experience will remain seamless even when moving from one country to another, whether they’re streaming, sharing a travel reel or running a business app. He called this the great strength of this technology.
Jio’s Head-International Network, Partnership and Services Mark Yarkosky said that this achievement is not limited to roaming only. The coming together of both 5G standalone networks can further open the way for new services for consumers and businesses as well as AI based services.
