Gayaji | Preparations for the Pitru Paksha Mela in Gayaji (Gayaji Pitru Paksha Mela 2026) have now reached the final stage. The district administration has intensified preparations for the convenience, security and smooth movement of lakhs of devotees coming from across the country.
On Tuesday evening, many senior officials including Magadh Division Commissioner Dr. Safina AN, District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar, SSP Sushil Kumar and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Gagan Shaheed inspected Vishnupad Temple and Devghat Gaya.
The officials took stock of the facilities and security arrangements available to the devotees in the fair area (Pitru Paksha Mela security arrangements). During this period, wherever the need for improvement was felt, necessary instructions were given to the concerned officials.
The arrangements of Vishnupad temple and Devghat were reviewed.
During the inspection, the officials closely observed the movement of devotees, condition of the ghats, cleanliness, drinking water, lighting and security arrangements. The administration’s emphasis is on the fact that the devotees coming to Gayaji during Pitru Paksha should not face any problem in performing religious rituals.
Senior officials instructed the concerned departments to remove any shortcomings in the arrangements in time and complete all the necessary work before the start of the fair.
Pitru Paksha fair will start from 25th September
Commissioner of Magadh Division, Dr. Safina A.N. Said that preparations for the Pitru Paksha fair are going well. He told that this year Pitru Paksha will start from 25th September and continue till 10th October. During this time, a large number of devotees from different parts of the country will reach Gayaji.
He said that the administration is fully prepared to welcome the devotees as guests and provide them better facilities. For this, arrangements are being finalized by coordinating between various departments.
There will be better arrangements to find those separated from their families
Due to the large number of people arriving during the Pitru Paksha fair, many times devotees get separated from their families or groups. Keeping this problem in mind, this time the administration is preparing a better system with the help of technology.
Work is being done to develop such a system, which can help in quickly locating a devotee and bringing him to his family in case he gets separated from his family or group. This is expected to provide relief especially to the elderly, children and people who get separated in the crowd.
Extensive arrangements for the stay of devotees also
The administration also pays special attention to the accommodation arrangements of the devotees coming to the fair. According to officials, arrangements have been made to accommodate a large number of people at various places, including about 40 feet locations. Apart from this, additional arrangements are also being made by the city, so that there is no problem even if the number of devotees increases.
Special focus on cleanliness and safety
Maintaining cleanliness in Gayaji during the Pitru Paksha fair will be a big challenge for the administration. In view of this, emphasis is being laid on continuously improving the cleanliness system in the fair area. Instructions have been given to provide necessary facilities to the devotees along with regular cleaning around the ghats and major religious places.
At the same time, necessary steps are also being taken to strengthen security at sensitive places and to control the crowd.
